Before I started at Squash Dreamers I was so lonely, I had nothing to do and would stay at home with no one to talk to. I was shy and lonely and didn’t have many friends.
Now, I have met so many friends and so many people that love me and that I love. When I started at Squash Dreamers, I started to push myself harder at school and get good grades, I learned English and started to feel more confident in all of my classes and I am now really successful at school.
I had never played squash before starting at Squash Dreamers, and to begin with I couldn’t even hit the ball, but now it is my favourite hobby, and I am in the High Performance Squash Team at the organisation. Captain Abdelqader believed in me and never gave up, he helped me to become a competitive player and to believe in myself too.
When I play squash and come to Squash Dreamers, I feel a special happiness that I don’t feel for anything else, I am so grateful. In the future I would like to become an ER doctor and of course keep playing squash!

Before Squash Dreamers, my life was devoid of activity and movement, I was bored and lethargic. I felt tired and sluggish because I wasn’t doing anything or exercising.
My life is so much better now. No matter how much I talk about it, it’s not enough! I now appreciate the value of time, problem-solving, and dealing with people and relationships. I used to be very shy and afraid of any new experience, but now exploration and curiosity are part of my personality.

I learned courage, self confidence, how to support others, and how to believe in my abilities and myself. I learned to persevere and succeed despite problems, pressures and difficulties, because they make us stronger.

Since joining Squash Dreamers, my personality has become more leadership oriented and I love helping others. I’m more understanding, more patient,  and I enjoy exploring aspects of myself I didn’t know existed, or rather I was afraid to explore. I started planning my future better, with a long-term perspective, and focusing on more ambitious dreams. At Squash Dreamers, we are one big happy family from different countries, and this allows us to adapt anywhere, love others, and learn about new and wonderful cultures.

When I first started at Squash Dreamers I was really nervous, and I told my mum that I would just come once to make her happy, I never knew how much I would grow to love this place.

Before I came to Squash Dreamers I really felt like a failure in everything, I was doing badly at school, I couldn’t understand English at all, I had no hobbies and no friends. Slowly, I started to learn new hobbies, of course my favourite was squash! I learned so much and made friends, something that I never had before. I have become so much more sociable and I am now curious and love to learn, explore and discover new things. I now know how to speak English and I won’t stop until I am fluent. I have always wanted to study and learn more about the world and I hope that soon I can apply for a scholarship.

I have been so inspired by the other girls at Squash Dreamers who have been awarded scholarships. I look at their photos on the wall and I know that one day I will be on the wall there with them as one of the students who has been given a scholarship to go to school. I am so grateful for the inspiration and encouragement from the older girls at Squash Dreamers and all of the teachers, and I am so proud of myself for all that I have achieved already. Looking back to who I was before I started at Squash Dreamers, I would tell myself ‘Never give up, you can do it, you are capable, you can and will achieve your dreams.’
